I've really enjoyed the journey that has been Photo 1. Besides being one of my first classes taken at a public school, it was great to take part in a committed, frequent photography class. I learned alot about the art of photography during my time every 1B slot. The biggest thing that stands out is learning about the depth of culture that surrounds photography. I had looked at alot of photographers before but I really appreciated the historic and modern (wet plate specifically) that you featured in the class. It inspired me.
I learned some very interesting things about myself this semester. It has been a time of upheval and I had trouble making sure every project was complete. Next semester I plan to map out more time for myself to take photos and explore my artistic passion. My favorite time was spent in the darkroom. I feel like going into Photo 2 I would like to spend atleast one class period developing images. In the digital side of things, I wished we had futher explored the art of capturing people (perhaps a street photography assignment?) and/or taken a look at landscape photography.
My biggest struggle in Photo 1 was handling and controlling exposures. At the beginning of the year I challenged myself to spend more time in the Manual setting. I wanted to kick my reliance on Program mode. It was a struggle but I feel managed to gain a stronger technical control over my old, and new camera.
