These photos are of a friend of mine. A producer and theatre training organizer in the Portland area. It was kind of awkward taking these photos because I have little to no experience taking photos of adults. I tried to make the best use of natural light available. 

B&W + Sabbatier Self Portraits

 

For some reason I had a really difficult time taking these portraits. I am not used to taking photos of myself. While I was brainstorming ideas for my project I glanced over at my shelf and saw my vintage cameras. That's how images 1,2,3,4 were born. The last two images came about while I was trying to take pictures in the mirror. I wasn't happy at how they were turning out so I tried looking down at the camera in the mirror. The angle became very interesting.

I've never been a very strong macro photographer. Portraits have always been my favorite. This project was really quite a challenge for me. I mixed flash with zoom like the guy in the video you showed us. Overall I was fairly pleased with the results, some more than others.
